Final stretch for Hotel Serras: a hundred metres of historic façade preserved beside the Cathedral

A few metres from Seville Cathedral, EDDEA is putting the finishing touches to the Hotel Serras Collection, the group’s first property in Andalusia: a boutique hotel with 43 rooms — three of them suites — a gym, a restaurant, an interior courtyard recovered as its central element and a rooftop facing the Cathedral’s monumental façade.

The work that never makes the render

Before opening day there is work that appears neither in the images nor in the inauguration photograph. The project intervenes in three listed houses by Aníbal González and José Espiau, exemplars of twentieth-century Sevillian Regionalism. That heritage status has guided design decisions from the very first line: what is preserved, what is restored, what is reinterpreted.

The glazed ceramic roof of the tower — that touch of blue, white and yellow in visual dialogue with the Giralda — is back in place. The relief tondos with human faces on the eaves, the painted tiles on the pilasters, the red marble bases of the ground-floor columns, the brick plinth that for decades has absorbed the wear and tear of the Avenida: each of these elements has been treated as what it is, a unique piece that is not reproduced but cared for.

A hundred metres of façade

Behind it lies quiet work, carried out together with the team at Jarquil Construcción, that has made it possible to preserve more than 100 linear metres of historic façade intact. An urban image that endures, and one we hope future guests will recognise as they walk in.
