EDDEA to design the new green neighbourhood promoted by Grupo Insur in Tomares, with some 500 homes

Grupo Insur will build close to 500 multi-family homes over the next five years beside the Olivar del Zaudín metropolitan park in Tomares, in the province of Seville. The project, to be carried out by EDDEA, “will create a new green neighbourhood fully integrated into the town through wide avenues, pedestrian areas and educational, sports and leisure facilities,” said Luis Ybarra, partner and founder of the architecture firm.
This significant planning exercise will translate into a residential area made up of three plots, each with its own development. The scheme provides a total of 54,133 square metres of market-rate housing, to be delivered in several phases, 17,430 square metres of commercial land and 3,375 square metres of ground-floor retail.
The first residential block, which will go on sale before the end of the year, will comprise 200 homes designed by EDDEA, which is also producing the entire masterplan for the development.
More than 90 million euros will be invested in the project, which will generate more than 2,400 jobs, making it the largest initiative to be undertaken in this Aljarafe municipality over the next five years – one with which “we want to create a piece of city”, as Grupo Insur’s chairman, Ricardo Pumar, put it.
To that end, he noted that “the new sports and educational facilities that the Town Council will develop in the area are of key importance and will act as a catalyst for this new neighbourhood”, an area fully connected to Tomares, where terraces and views towards nature and the Seville metropolitan area will take priority.
Panoramic views
At the presentation of the project, Grupo Insur’s chairman remarked that the town “enjoys a privileged topography that gives it superb panoramic views of both Seville and the area’s parks, and its commitment to its residents’ quality of life is borne out by its more than 25 parks”. Tomares is the municipality with the most green space per inhabitant in Andalusia, which places it at the forefront of Spain in terms of environmental concern.
For his part, the town’s mayor, José Luis Sanz, welcomed this major investment and stressed that “the nearly 500 homes will also have the largest park in the Aljarafe on their doorstep, as well as a new school with sports and leisure areas”. These homes, he added, “come with the guarantee of a group with a long track record in Tomares, which has already built 600 homes and three office buildings in the town”.
