Offices around a courtyard that live alongside the activity of the port
Galia Puerto stands on a strategic site, the Dársena del Batán in the Port of Seville. Its proximity to the SE-30 ring road gives it quick access to key destinations such as the airport and Santa Justa high-speed rail station, and excellent connections with any other part of the city.
EDDEA's project drew on the most advanced technology of its time for its construction. Its design stands out for the representative quality of its shared areas, which provide spaces for rest and encounter between users and visitors, and for its focus on energy optimisation in air conditioning, consumption and the general maintenance of the installations.
The building stretches along the service road, folding back on itself as it approaches the SE-30 ring road, to which it presents its main façade. The use of traditional materials such as glass, Corten steel and timber is characteristic and integrates it seamlessly into the port setting.
It is made up of two buildings arranged around a shared space: the first, two storeys high, is given over entirely to offices plus a commercial unit. The second, six storeys high, houses a shopping arcade and services, offices to let, a business centre and multipurpose rooms.
It is entered through a passage that cuts through the building, linking the street formed by the two buildings with the platform two metres below, where port activities take place.
From this point there is access both to the main building and to the lower courtyard, which connects on foot with the port facilities. The ground-floor access to the shared areas was sized to become an important meeting place for users.
