The 9th ‘Andalucía Inmobiliaria’ Awards name EDDEA’s Citythinking ‘Outstanding Innovative Project’

EDDEA’s Citythinking has been recognised as ‘Outstanding Innovative Project’ at the ‘Andalucía Inmobiliaria’ Awards, now in their ninth edition, which honour people, companies, institutions and projects that have stood out in 2022, or over their whole careers, for their support for and contribution to the revitalisation of the property and construction sector.
EDDEA’s Citythinking team focuses on the growth of cities, designing urban and territorial strategies on several continents. With more than 15 years of experience, it specialises in large urban systems, with a focus on sustainability and on innovation in the industrialisation and standardisation of design and processes.
Among other innovations, it has developed Cityplain in collaboration with Microsoft, the first cloud-computing tool for urban planning that addresses the global need for affordable housing within urban extensions. It also allows comprehensive comparison of scenarios and collaboration between teams to improve decision-making.
José María de Cárdenas, partner and founder of EDDEA, received the award from the Junta de Andalucía’s Secretary General for Housing, Alicia Martínez. De Cárdenas highlighted Citythinking’s role in designing urban environments that “improve people’s quality of life through the development of complete neighbourhoods wherever affordable, efficient housing is most needed”.
The awards, presented annually by the specialist magazine ‘Andalucía Inmobiliaria’ at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Confederation of Andalusian Businesses (CEA), include, besides the one given to EDDEA, the following categories: Outstanding Property Project, Business Track Record, Professional Track Record, Outstanding Company and 21st-Century City.
The jury is made up of professionals including architects, engineers, consultants, economists, lawyers, heads of academic institutions and experts from across the sector. In 2022 its members were Iñigo Galán (CEO of INERZIA Asesores Inmobiliarios), Francisco Carmona (secretary general of Construcor), Leopoldo Parias (managing partner of Deloitte Andalucía y Extremadura), Rosa Hafner (director of Andalucía Inmobiliaria), Brita Hektoen (Norwegian consul in Seville), Francisco José Pérez-Fresquet (assistant to the rector at Loyola University) and Iñigo Molina (director of Colliers in Andalusia).
