Soland Center opens: EDDEA’s building for solar innovation in Sanlúcar la Mayor

The Soland Center, the innovation and advanced services building at the Soland Business Innovation Park in Sanlúcar la Mayor (Seville), has been inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Andalusian Government (Junta de Andalucía), José Antonio Griñán, and the chairman of Abengoa, Felipe Benjumea. EDDEA won the competition called by Sanlúcar Sostenible to design the building in 2010.

The 3,500 m² centre, arranged over three floors and a basement, represents an investment of 3.2 million euros, with support from the IDEA Agency and ERDF funds. It houses laboratories for optics, chemistry, electronics, materials characterisation and solar and reliability testing, as well as a pilot plant for photovoltaic technology. The ground floor accommodates the headquarters of the Fundación Soland and support services for technology companies. It is expected to generate around a hundred direct jobs in solar research.
