EDDEA and BURO4 appointed to advise Mercasevilla

EDDEA, in a joint venture (UTE) with BURO4 Arquitectos, has been awarded the urban planning technical assistance contract to support the strategic evolution of MERCASEVILLA.

It is news we are especially pleased to share, given what it represents.

Mercasevilla is not merely a logistics facility. It is a structural part of Seville and its metropolitan area, tied to food supply, distribution and an economic activity essential to the everyday functioning of the city.

At EDDEA we see this challenge as much more than an exercise in reorganising land within the site. We see it as an opportunity to rethink this great productive enclave in light of the new logistics of food, its future efficiency and its relationship with the city and its metropolitan surroundings.

This new appointment also joins the other major urban transformations we are currently working on in Seville.

• In the Distrito Urbano Portuario, supporting the evolving relationship between port and city, bringing together economic activity, new urban uses and the regeneration of the riverfront.
• In Santa Bárbara, helping to define a new productive and residential environment linked to the aerospace ecosystem, in connection with the airport and the new economic activities that are transforming this part of the city.
• And now at MERCASEVILLA, addressing the evolution of one of the great metropolitan infrastructures tied to food logistics.

They are different settings, but they share a single conviction: today’s major urban transformations happen where city, production, innovation, mobility and economic activity meet. To be working simultaneously on several of these strategic spaces is, for EDDEA, a great responsibility and also a source of great satisfaction.
