“Why is More”: Citythinking brings its reading of territorial patterns to Ars Electronica
July 22, 2015

Citythinking took part in the Ars Electronica festival in Linz, devoted that year to the theme POST CITY, with the project “Why is More”, developed with the Austrian practice tp3 architects.
The festival blog described the initiative as follows: “Citythinking is an open organisation for showing, rethinking and adapting territorial organisations”.
Patterns before plans
The work starts by mapping flows (energy, communication, information) to detect territorial patterns and, from them, to “enable a new dialogue between society, nature and economy”.
From this comes an idea that is still unusual in the profession: “not every city has to be redeveloped; what matters is recognising whether patterns exist”.
