Citythinking joins MadridWCC to drive industrialised affordable housing in Madrid

Citythinking has joined MadridWCC, the Madrid World Capital of Construction, Engineering and Architecture association, with the stated aim of driving the construction of affordable housing in the region.

“We want to contribute our international experience in building industrialised housing,” said José María de Cárdenas, the studio’s CEO. He also offered a figure that measures how far the tool has come: “with our CITYPLAIN Modular Design Platform we have built more than 6,000 homes in the last two years alone”.

The platform is designed to speed up industrialised housing of three to seven storeys “at lower cost”, a range that matches much of the demand for subsidised housing in the Madrid metropolitan area.
