ArchDaily and Divisare publish the refurbishment of the Hermanos Laulhé outpatient clinic in San Fernando

ArchDaily published on 3 April 2012 the refurbishment of the “Hermanos Laulhé” outpatient clinic in San Fernando (Cádiz), an EDDEA intervention covering 2,460 square metres in concrete and brick, with photographs by Javier Orive and José Hevia. A few weeks later, Divisare featured the same project.
A Modern Movement building restored
The clinic, designed in 1954 by the architects Cavestany and Pardo Valcárcel, was restored following a competition held in 2004. The intervention unifies the entrances, relocates the lift and gives the building back its original rooflight, lost in earlier alterations. The centre reopened in December 2010.
It is one of the studio’s first works to reach the international architecture press, and it anticipates a line of work, intervention in 20th-century heritage, that EDDEA would go on to pursue at the Museo Íbero in Jaén.
