Anja Ehrenfried presents Parametric Smart Planning at “Architecture of the Future”

Anja Ehrenfried, managing director of Citythinking by EDDEA, spoke at the second edition of the international conference “Architecture of the Future”, held in Kyiv, with a talk entitled “Disruptive Technologies Shaping the New Architecture”, focused on parametric design.

Data as the raw material of the masterplan

“Every masterplan has complex data to gather, but it is important to make sure that each piece of data works efficiently for the future”, she argued, adding that “creating a smart urban ecosystem requires a scientific approach”.

In her talk she presented the studio’s own tool, Parametric Smart Planning (PSP): algorithm-based software for generating flexible, efficient urban layouts, optimised for different scenarios and typologies and replicable in very diverse contexts without erasing the cultural differences of each place.

Alongside Foster, Zaha Hadid and Arup

The conference, curated by Dmytro Aranchii, drew more than 2,000 attendees and practices such as Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects, Gensler, Woods Bagot, Arup and HASSELL. In addition to coverage by World Architecture Community, ArchDaily featured Ehrenfried’s talk and Parametric Smart Planning in its review of the event, “7 architectural considerations shaping the cities of the future”.
